REFLECTION

Feedback:

Week 7:

  • reorganise the logo application and collaterals since both are a different category
  • make it to only 4 collaterals

Week 8:

  • Independent Learning Week

Week 9:

  • Missing letterhead and invoice layout design
  • change the logo's position on the front envelope away from the center.
  • decide whether to proceed with the calendar layout or not.
  • add colors to the brand logo designs

Week 10:

  • The Letterhead and invoice look good to proceed
  • Complete the mock-up before the submission dateline
Week 11:

From Ms Lilian: Room for improvement in the understanding of the targeted audience in various segmentations. Otherwise, brand positioning is well-considered. Incorrect identity system (showcase the refined logo design outcome). More definitive sequencing of visual references is needed (calendar sketch as collateral not to be included on corporate stationery slide, wireframe should be in progression folder not on slide). Do credit your resources accordingly. Submission of final artworks are incorrect except letterhead (no letterhead without mock body copy) and invoice. Submission artworks appear more to be work process than outcomes and include wireframes and mockups. As a suggested improvement on brand logo, mayhap consider taking out the outline on brand logo (not needed for wordmark nor for mascot/brandmark). More sensitivity needed to the proportions and accuracy of brand logo (some applications displays the unrefined version where the ‘&’ appears too small: stand signage, ‘POT’ is outlined: black totebag). Taking apart the brand logo is also questionable due to the lack of identity system established, especially not working out well in letterhead application. In addition, several mockups appear to be artworks and has not been properly visualised. Has room for improvement in the sensitivity to type and overall submission of brand applications to present a clearer and cohesive outcome.

Experience:

For Task 3, I'm digging into the intricacies of Logo Application and Brand Positioning by creating my own logo and mock-up from my design blob & Pot. This task allows me to harness my observations of successful brands and apply my personal experiences to design a unique and cohesive brand identity. Through this project, I'm learning how to translate core brand values into visual elements that resonate with target audiences, ensuring the brand stands out in a competitive market.

Observation:

This task has allowed me to apply theoretical concepts to practical design, honing my skills in visual identity creation. Through careful observation, I've analyzed various successful brands, noting the importance of consistency, simplicity, and emotional resonance in their logos. This insight has guided me in developing a logo that not only reflects the core values and personality of my hypothetical brand but also stands out in a competitive market. The process of creating a mock-up further emphasized the significance of context and application, ensuring that my design is versatile and impactful across different mediums.
