- The main tool we used this week was the Pen Tool.
- we played the Bezier Game to get used on using the Pen tool.
- We were tasked to trace out all the Vormator Shapes before the next class.
Week 2 - Character Design

INSTRUCTIONS
Exercise 1 - Vormator Character
TUTORIAL & PRACTICAL:
- We are required to design and create one unique character by using the given sets of shapes with Adobe Illustrator (Ai).
Requirements:
- Using colour, fill, stroke and swatches.
- Arranging layers and naming them
- Grouping and Isolation Mode
- Changing workspace display
- Selecting objects with the selection and direct tool
- Exercise: We played the Bezier Game as part of our exercise getting used to the pen tool and tracing the vormator shapes
fig 1.2: Vormator Tracing
We have traced out the shapes in Adobe Illustrator using the Pen Tool.
Example of Vormator Challenge:
Character Design:
I experimented a few shapes from the vormator shapes given and proceed to create my
own character.
Sketch and Progress:

EXERCISE 2: ILLUSTRATION TYPOGRAPHY (WEEK 4-WEEK 6)
we are required to design and create two illustrated typography using the words generated from a Pictionary Generator.
Requirements:
- The illustrations and words complement each other
- The design makes sense
- Use non-decorative fonts as the base of the design
Generating the Words
The words I got using the Pictionary Generator are "Glass" and "Fur."
Fig 1.8: The two words generated ,week 5
Sketches
I sketched out my ideas for both of the illustration typography. I then applied some
graphical elements to make more sense and interesting. For the design I wanted to go for
a minimal approach.
Fig 1.9: The two words generated, week 5
I decided to take the view of a cats sillouhette since the word is "fur".
GLASS
Fig 2: The two words generated ,week 5
I then decided to create a glasses frame for the "glass" typeface to sit in. It is suppose to indicate the glass of the glasses.
After I had received feedbacks from Week 6, Ms. Anis suggested on adding some characteristics of a cat and some whiskers on the typeface. As for the glasses, Ms suggested to add some glare or gloss on the "glass" word to mimic a glossy surface.
Digitization
Fig 2.3: Final illustrated typography "fur"
After receiving the feedback, I then added some finishing details such as, shadows, gradients to make it look more POP.
Fig 2.4: “Glass” Outline View in Adobe Illustrator
Fig 2.5: Final illustrated typography "glass"
I added some glare effect on the "glass"to mimic an actual glass and added a few highlights to the glasses frame to make it look like plastic. After that I added shadows and some lighting.
WEEK 6
REFLECTION
Experience
In my experience for the whole project 1 was actually interesting. There was a few struggles in completing the exercises but I managed. I was getting used on using the pen tool and I finally could get the hang of it now. Overall, I am satisfied with my works and development.
